* Another option is decreasing the range of motion – this will allow you to keep the upper body still especially if you are a beginner

* I like to do my side kicks nice and slow – with Pilates it is important to do slow controlled movements – minus their variation of hot potato – try to watch your speed, people tend to rush when they start to feel the burn
