Day 17

Our ferry was for 745, which meant we needed to be there for 645.  We got up around 5am, quickly ate some breakfast and had a coffee.  We said our goodbyes to Iain and Sonia, then made our way to the Tsawwassen dock.  We browsed the stores while waiting for the ferry and found a cute little statue whale.

I love whales!

The ferry ride was 2 hours long.  I saw some killer whales during the trip, Solly who wanted to see them so badly missed them.  Where our car was located, which was at the front of the boat had the best view.

Exploring the ferry

Once we landed, we headed to our new home in Nanaimo.  We met with our landlords and did the walkabout the house.  Then we actually went to Departure Bay because Sam was taking the ferry and was going to stay with us for the weekend.  Once he arrived we roamed the city since we didn’t know when the moving company was suppose to arrive.  We tried Serious coffee, which was really good and must be an island chain.

We had lunch at a restaurant on the harbor, where we all tried the fish and chips with salmon instead of the typical cod.  Then the moving company called saying they were waiting for us, (we were never told of their arrival time or else we would have been home).

Once the truck was unload, we went grocery shopping for dinner and snacks.  Then we spent the rest of the evening setting up and cleaning the house.  Sam was a great help, he helped Solly with the big items while I cleaned the house.  Before we knew it, it was midnight.  My back was pretty sore from the cleaning and I was ready to hit the sack, but the bed wasn’t set up.  We quickly put together the bed and all crashed for a good nights sleep.
