Day 14
We had a good nights rest and were up and getting ready to explore Vancouver. First Iain took us to Granville Island, which has tonnes of free samples. Solly and I shared a cinnamon bun. I made a nice new friend at a maple syrup stand who had me taste “the best maple syrup in the world”. It was quite good, I was surprise I wasn’t grossed out by drinking maple syrup. There were tonnes of little gift shops and food stands to explore.
Grandville Market
Once Sonia was done work; Iain, Solly and I took the bus to meet her for lunch and go to the PNE. We had lunch at Tommy and Jerry’s Diner, where somehow they are able to cook lasagna faster than eggs. I don’t know how that works! (Can we say microwave or frozen foods?)
Once we finished lunch, we walked to the PNE. They had a Star Trek Exhibition set up. Throughout the exhibition they have stations set up where they take your photo and at the end you can purchase them. There were 3 stations, one being the captain’s chair, the main control panel room and lastly the transporters. The photos turned out quite funny, so we each bought one.
Star Trek Exhibition
They also had on display the lotto home that you can win. Since Iain was so convinced this will be his future home he took us on a tour of his new “home”.
After we browsed the home show, where they had food samples, clothes, purses and lots of various gadgets on display. We also checked out the farm animals, where they had a dress up centre as a bee keeper. I was jealous of all the little kids getting to wear the costume. We roamed the fair until it was time to go see the Peking Acrobats, which was an intriguing show. It was an acro team from China, which it was quite amazing to see the way they could contort their bodies.
After the show it was dinnertime. Solly and I shared a gyro, while we waited for the Chad Brownlee concert. It was a pretty good concert, the girls were going crazy up front since Chad is a local. He use to play for the Vancouver Canuks until he injured his shoulder. So he changed to career to become a country singer.
Once the show was over it was time to head home and hit the sack again. These two weeks of traveling were tiring us out and we were ready to crash for another day.
