Day 12
This morning I woke up to “Holly S***, I went to get a granola bar from the car and there was an elk like right beside me!!!” I pretty much rolled over and tried to go back to sleep because I was still so tired. But Solly came back, “There is a whole heard out here.” So I got up and walked blindly out of the tent since I didn’t have contacts in and didn’t know where my glasses were. He wasn’t kidding, we were surrounded by a whole heard of elk grazing at the surrounding campsites. I couldn’t see very well, so I sat in the car and took pictures. Eventually, I needed to go to the washroom and I was quite nervous since there were so many. As I was walking over there were 2 right outside of the bathroom.
Solly’s so excited about the Elk he tried to get him and the elk in the photo- Hello Mr. Elk you are quiet close
Another camper walked to the bathroom and didn’t even notice all the elk surrounding him, but he scared the elk and they started leave. The mom and baby got separated and it was interesting listening to them call each other. After the elk left I put in my contacts and then realized how close the elk were as things came into better focus.
Mountains in the early morning light- Picture on the picnic table
After the elk were gone, we headed to Tim Hortons for coffee and breakfast. We briefly used the wifi as well while we waited for the hot springs to open. The hot springs is more like a community hot tub. But it was nice and relaxing. Our campsite does not have showers so it was quiet nice to get into the water. (You have to shower first, don’t worry if that grossed you out). Afterwards, I took my time and showered, got all nice and clean.
We then headed to the campsite, where we ate lunch and took down the tents. Once everything was packed into the car we went into Banff one last time. We had to wait for Solly’s pictures to be developed so we went shopping at Roots and looked at a few gift shops.
Pistol within view of Lake Louise with a crazy few of the mountainsOnce we picked up to the photos we were off to our next destination. First, we crossed the Alberta border and into British Colubmia, YEAH!!!
Our new province
We originally planned to stay at a campsite around Kamloops. Solly was still feeling pretty good, so we drove a little farther, but unfortunately the place we stopped at the campsite signs lead to another RV site that doesn’t allow tenting. There were no other options, we tried sleeping in the car but it just wasn’t comfortable. So Solly decided to drive to the next town, where we got a motel (which was not cheap :). It was nice to sleep in an actual bed after camping for several days though.
Who’s pistol is better? LOL- Glance at Solly’s photography skills with his film camera
