Day 11
We started the day with making breakfast, egg and ham wraps. Then we went into Banff to grab coffee and Solly wanted to get his filmed developed and mail a postcard, but nothing was open yet so we head to the C-Circuit trail. This trail was only 4 km one way, but again we were still pretty tired and sore from the previous two days of hiking. Plus Solly’s foot was injured, he possibly strained the ligaments between his metatarsals and was really limping by the end of the hike. This trail takes along old mines that existed back in the 1920s, where there use to be an old settlement. There are warning signs about being careful where you walk because the ground is quiet lose and can give away due to the mines.
Danger signs warning about mines
- Side lift with a front kick in sight of the mountains
- Mine was fenced off so that no one falls in
- C-Circuit – There use to be a settlement here
After we finished the hike, we headed back to the campsite for some lunch. We had hamburgers and veggies. Then we went back into Banff, where we dropped off the film and did some shopping. I debated about getting some Vibrums, but didn’t end up getting them since they didn’t have my size. We also sat and enjoyed a beer on a patio and just took in our surroundings. Then I had Solly try is his first beaver tail, which he absolutely loved and he asked for a second one! LOL
We went grocery shopping before heading back to the campsite for dinner. We cooked up some pork cutlets and veggies. We packed to go to the Hot Springs and on our way out got distracted by the elk that were by the side of the road.
Elk – Mother was tagged- Walking right through the middle of Banff
We sat and watched them for a while and tried to get some good photos, but they weren’t turning out well because of the lighting. We planned to go to the Radium Hot Springs, but missed the exit, so as we were driving through Banff to the next exit we saw more Elk.
We headed to the Hot Springs, not realizing how far they actually were, so we ended up turning around and going back to the campsite and hitting the sack.
